Linguaskill from Cambridge is a modular online English test, which assesses the four language skills (reading, listening, writing, and speaking). This means you can choose which skills you would like to test. There are four modules:
- Linguaskill Reading (40-60 minutes) is an “adaptive” test. For each question you answer correctly, the next question becomes more challenging. The test ends when there is enough information to identify your level.
- Linguaskill Listening (40-60 minutes) is an “adaptive” test. For each question you answer correctly, the next question becomes more challenging. The test ends when there is enough information to identify your level.
- Linguaskill Writing (55 minutes) consists of two writing tasks, which you enter directly into a computer. Your answers are marked by human markers and marking technology.
- Linguaskill Speaking (16 minutes). You hear instructions and speak into a headset. Your answers are recorded and marked by examiners.
Linguaskill test results are generally available 6-8 days after completion of the test.
There are two variations of the test. Linguaskill Business is an excellent choice if you are looking for a job. An increasing number of universities accept Linguaskill General and Academic as proof of your level in English.
